Lost: inconsistent health habits Found: a new way of thinking 'Good Enough' is definately NOT good enough I started at TriStyle in May 2012. I would have gotten in shape quicker if I had known at the beginning, how well I was going to do at transforming my body, and ultimately my life…, but that’s not how life goes, we are meant to experience it, and sometimes the best way to do that is to break it down into stages. Along the way I have been helped by some amazing women, to whom I will always be incredibly grateful. My journey officially started when I attended a talk at the library. Dr Sarah Goulding (Nickel Ridge Natural Health) was speaking about hormones. I was perimenopausal, and everything in me was so out of whack…I remember walking into her office and telling her, this is not me, I need help. Over the next few months I kept a log. I recorded what I consumed, how I felt, and how active I was. What did I learn? Sure I ate my veggies and didn’t pig out too much on junk food, but I would blow it on weekends, end up feeling like crap, and then maybe try harder during the week or maybe not…I was inconsistent. I saw that I loved to work out, especially when it was with someone who I felt I could trust. Thank you Lynzy Boeswald When I saw the flyer for the Minors Mayhem, my very first thought was, ‘that looks like a lot of fun!’ I walked into TriStyle to register, and I was intrigued with the place. I knew Donna and Lise, so that all important trust factor was there…I signed up for personal training, and that was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. I had to learn how and what to eat. So I experimented and studied the Paleo lifestyle. I completed the Whole 30 Challenge. After a month of clean eating I started to try to include some of the foods from my old lifestyle, it didn’t take long to see the detrimental effects they had on my body. I wont lie, changing eating habits, and going against what mainstream society perceives as normal was at times very difficult ….I drooled a lot, and for awhile my eating was incredibly basic and routine, but I also had plenty of energy, and I wasn’t bloated with gas all the time. And, I was loosing weight and gaining muscle! The other piece of this puzzle is my mind. I’ve noticed I have a ‘good enough’ cutoff point, and when I reach it, I stop whatever I am doing. I’ve decided its time for that to change. Good Enough, is just not Good Enough anymore. |

Lost: 45 lbs (over 3 months time) Found: pictures really are worth a thousand words Stacey had decided to make some changes on her own at the beginning of October and then won a 'Free Month Certificate' to TriStyle at our Zombie Run at the end of the month. "It was definitely the missing link.....I've found improved strength and endurance which has also helped my running" The bottom pictures were taken the day she started at TriStyle (on the left) and 5 weeks later (on the right). 'Every workout is different and I am really enjoying that....always a challenge." Fantastic work Stacey!! |
